Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort: A Retro Florida Escape
Located within Universal Orlando Resort’s Value Inn & Suites category, Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort exudes a nostalgic flair inspired by Florida’s classic beach resorts of the 1950s and 60s. With its iconic mid-century architecture, bold color palettes, and playful retro details, Cabana Bay invites guests to step into a bygone era of sun-soaked leisure and kitschy charm.
Recreation: Endless Family Fun
This resort puts entertainment front and center—just steps away from Volcano Bay and a short stroll along Universal’s scenic pathways to Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure.
Pools & Water Features
Two expansive outdoor pools—one heated—offer a splash of relaxation, complete with water slides and zero-entry designs for all ages.
The resort’s lazy river adds extra chill time, and tubes are available for purchase so you can float the day away.
Bowling & Arcade
The on-site Galaxy Bowl is not just a bowling alley—it’s a full restaurant and bar, perfect for casual family competition or a quirky date night. The food was amazing for a bowling Alley. It’s honestly the best food at Cabana Bay. You don’t need a reservation to eat, but you do need a reservation to Bowl so book early.
There's also an arcade/game room for added indoor amusement.
Fitness & Relaxation
Stay active in the fitness center, or wind down in one of two hot tubs located poolside.
Theming: A Bold Trip Through the Decades
Cabana Bay’s theming is more than cosmetic—it's fully immersive. You’ll be surrounded by mid-century architectural nods to Florida's golden age of motels and beach hotels. Even dining spaces contribute: the Bayliner Diner food court screens nostalgic commercials, evoking the early era of TV meals. Poolside spots like Atomic Tonic and Hideaway Bar & Grill lean into retro-futuristic “space coast” design—fun nods to the 1960s space race aesthetic.
Food Options: Nostalgic Flavors & Modern Convenience
Central Food Court – Bayliner Diner
This hub of flavor offers everything from burgers, pizza, sandwiches, desserts, salads, to grab-and-go selections—all under one roof. Vintage-era commercials on giant video screens artfully ramp up the retro ambiance.
Poolside Eats & Drinks
Atomic Tonic and Hideaway Bar & Grill serve up grilled sandwiches, pizzas, refreshing salads, and beverages right where you're lounging by the pool —perfect for notching quick sustenance between swims. My wings were very dry and so was the burger so I wouldn’t have high expectations.
Additional Dining & Drink Outlets
Galaxy Bowl Restaurant & Bar, located alongside the bowling lanes, is the perfect blend of food, fun, and nostalgia. I can’t recommend this enough, the food was so good.
Expect a lobby bar and café offerings, including grab-and-go coffee options and even in-room pizza delivery in some reviews. There is also a Starbucks on site. Starbucks gets very busy in the mornings so be prepared for that.
Shakes Malt Shoppe has smoothies, shakes and snacks.
Gift Shops & Shopping Convenience
While not a spotlight attraction, Cabana Bay does offer on-site shopping for essentials, snacks, souvenirs, and more. This lets guests stay in theme without trekking to CityWalk just for handy supplies.
Room Options: Style Meets Family-Friendly Function
Cabana Bay’s accommodations are designed for value, comfort, and flexibility.
